Adriano Silva Moraes was born in April 20, 1970 in Quintana-SP, on his relatives' farm (in the year of 1995, the city of Quintana honored Adriano with the opening of a rodeo arena named after him)...
Adriano had a humble childhood. His father has always been a farm manager. He used to fish, hunt, go horseback riding. Whenever he went to school, his horse was tied up under a tree. He even was in need during childhood. When he was 9, all his family had a job picking tomatoes in plantation fields, his lunch and dinner had been rice and tomato for many months. Even leading such a difficult life, his parents Aparecido and Elizabeth managed to raise their children keeping them together with a dignified behavior. Adriano has 3 brothers and 1 sister: Edno, André, Fernanda, and Allan.
Adriano has always been around horses and bulls, however, he only saw a rodeo for the first time when he was 16 years old. At 18, a friend invited him to go riding in some rodeos. At that time he was a sophomore in school , and worked as a tractor driver at the ranch. He realized soon it was impossible to conciliate rodeos, work, and school, he decided to quit working and studying and go on with rodeos.
At first, his parents did not accept the idea, but they gave him all their support afterwards. It took him two years to be considered one of the best, although it has been clear he was a gifted person since the beginning.
He met his future wife, Flávia, and quickly began to exhibit the talent that would earn him his multiple world titles.
Adriano is naturally expressive and very competitive. He does not hide emotion, but always coveys it earnestly. His appearance combined with humility, honesty and compassion have made him a fan favorite across America. His charm, charisma, and sincerity make him an ambassador of the sport of Professional Bull Riding.
Adriano lives by a strictly defined set of values that he defines as “straight-edged”. Adriano stresses a balance between the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of life. He never defers responsibility or points a finger of blame and always looks to himself first if he had a bad ride or was in a slump. Based on his principles, Adriano does not accept alcohol or tobacco sponsorships and routinely forgoes bonus and sponsorship money as a result. He is principled while being faithful to the biggest and greatest of all American legends – the cowboy. Proving oneself to be tough mentally, physically, and spiritually is still valued and goes a long way in America, but very few take up the banner. Adriano does in every aspect of his life.
